Etymology

Like Ginkgo biloba (but note mispelling of epithet ), due to the similarity in the shape of the fronds to the leaves of Ginkgo.

Description

Rhizome erect, fronds in a tuft. Stipe 1.3–4 cm long, dark brown, shiny, scaly and with very few hairs at the base when young, glabrescent with age. Scales lanceolate, cell walls thin, brown, c.3.5 mm long, 0.2 mm wide. Lamina glabrous, 3–10 by 3–5 cm, pinnate, 1–4 pairs of pinnae and a terminal pinna, occasionally only with the terminal pinna; pinnae 1.1–3 by 3.5–4.4 cm, 2.5–3 cm apart, stalked, flabellate, lower margins slightly concave, semiorbicular on the external margin, irregularly and slightly crenate-undulate; stalks 5 mm long, articulated at apex; terminal pinna similar to the lateral pinnae; venation flabellate, forked 3–4 times. Sori scattered around margin, semi-orbicular, short; indusia black, thickened, glabrous .
