Similar to Asplenium phyllitidis D.Don but differs in: frond gradually narrowing towards acuminate apex, long-attenuate at base . Distribution in ThailandNORTHERN: Tak. Wider DistributionIndia (Assam). EcologyIn moist evergreen forests by streams at medium altitudes. Proposed IUCN Conservation AssessmentData Deficient (DD). This species has a wide overall distribution but in Thailand its only known popualtions are in disurbed areas. Its status in NE India and possible areas inbetween are unknown. NotesThis is close to Asplenium phyllitidis but still smaller, with fronds narrowing evenly towards both ends. Tardieu once recorded this species from Vietnam (Aspl. Tonkin.: 28. 1932), but referred the materials later to her new speies A. colaniae, which is distinguished from A. simonsianum by long, narrowly winged or wingless stipes and the caudately acuminate apex of the fronds.
