Description

Epiphytic. Rhizome short creeping, 2–5 mm diam., bearing fronds rather closely spaced, scaly; scales narrow, gradually narrowing from base towards long-attenuate apex, up to 2.5–5(–8.5) by 0.5–1(–2) mm, broadest at basal portion, dark brown, clathrate, toothed at margin. Stipes 0–6, not distinct from lower part of midribs of laminae, narrowly winged, castaneous to dark, scaly at base. Laminae linear-lanceolate, gradually narrowing towards both ends, attenuate at both apex and base, entire or slightly revolute at margin, 10–30(–50) by 1–2.5(–5) cm; subcoriaceous, veins hardly visible, copiously anastomosing; fertile portion of laminae at apex, usually constricted at junction with sterile portion, linear, 3–7(–25) by 0.3–0.7 cm, wholly covered by sporangia except the very margin inrolled to protect the young sori .

Distribution in Thailand

SOUTH-WESTERN: Prachuap Khiri Khan; SOUTH-EASTERN: Chanthaburi; PENINSULAR: Nakhon Si Thammarat, Yala.

Wider Distribution

Tropics of Asia, from Sri Lanka to Polynesia, north to Vietnam.

Ecology

On tree trunks in dense evergreen forests at low or medium altitudes.

Proposed IUCN Conservation Assessment

Least Concern (LC). This species is widespread and not under any known threats.
