DescriptionRhizome short, ascending, scaly; scales lanceolate, apex acuminate, brown. Stipes dark, polished, 10–25 cm long, scaly at lower portion. Laminae pentagonal, 3–8 by 3–8 cm, apex acuminate, pinnatifid to bipinnatifid; lowest pinnae largest, 1.5–4 cm long, adnate to rachis, ultimate segments oblong to narrowly triangular; coriaceous; lower surface covered with white or yellow waxy substances. Sori at margin of lobes, continuous, protected by reflexed margin of lobes. Distribution in ThailandNORTHERN: Chiang Mai. Wider DistributionChina, Japan, Korea. Proposed IUCN Conservation AssessmentData Deficient (DD). There is considerable taxonomic confusion in the genus Cheilanthes making accurate conservation assessments of many of the species difficult. NotesCheilanthes is a difficult genus that needs more taxonomic research.
