DescriptionRhizome short, erect or ascending, scaly; scales linear-lanceolate, dark brown, membranous. Stipes longer than laminae, 10–25 cm long; scales ovate-subulate, rufo-brown, sometimes glandular at margin. Laminae ovate or triangular in outline, 5–8(–20) by 3–4(–12) cm, bipinnatifid to tripinnatifid; pinnae 5–9 pairs, lower pinnae with short stalk, 2–5 by 1–3 cm, basiscopic side wider than acroscopic side. Sori at margin of lobes, interrupted, protected by reflexed margin of lobes. Distribution in ThailandNORTHERN: Chiang Mai, Lamphun, Tak; EASTERN: Nakhon Ratchasima. Wider DistributionJapan and Taiwan. EcologyOn rocks in light shade at medium or high altitudes. Proposed IUCN Conservation AssessmentData Deficient (DD). There is considerable taxonomic confusion in the genus Cheilanthes making accurate conservation assessments of many of the species difficult. NotesCheilanthes is a difficult genus that needs more taxonomic research.
