K.Iwats.: Tagawa & K.Iwats., SouthE Asian Stud. 5: 71. 1967, p.p. DescriptionRhizome creeping; scales oblong-subtriangular, about 7 by 1.2 mm, pale brown, hairy at margin. Stipes 35–90 cm long, dark and scaly at base, stramineous or slightly flushed red. Laminae oblong, 30–80 by 20–44 cm; lateral pinnae about 4–6(–8) pairs, lowest pair sometimes reduced, upper ones larger, sessile, narrowly oblong, caudate at apex, gradually narrowing towards narrowly cuneate base, 15–37 by 2.5–6.3 cm, subentire or irregularly undulate, cartilaginous at margin; venation meniscioid; texture papyraceous, firm, pale green to green, verrucose, sparsely pubescent or glabrescent. Sori in two rows, medial one close to excurrent veinlets; indusia small, persistent but usually immersed among sporangia at maturity, hairy; sporangia with a few setose hairs. Distribution in ThailandNORTHERN: Lampang; NORTH-EASTERN: Loei; SOUTH-EASTERN: Chanthaburi; PENINSULAR: Yala. Wider DistributionS China, Taiwan, throughout Malesia to N Queensland. EcologyTerrestrial on rather dry slopes in evergreen forests along streamlets at medium altitudes. Proposed IUCN Conservation AssessmentLeast Concern (LC). This species is widespread and not under any known threat. NotesAlthough the material from Thailand has setose hairs on the sporangia Holttum (1982) notes that the type from the Philippines lacks setose hairs on the sporangia .
