Description

Rhizome short, erect or ascending, bearing a few fronds at apex; scales narrow, up to 13 by 1.2 mm, concolorous, dark brown, minutely toothed at margin. Stipes 17.5–65 cm long, usually brown, occasionally stramineous, darker in lower portion, grooved on adaxial surface. Frond imparipinnate, ovate in outline, 19–60 by 12–29cm; rachis grooved on upper surface, minutely hairy, often gemmiferous at junction with costa; lateral pinnae 2 to 8 pairs, upper ones smaller, ascending, shortly stalked, oblong, caudate at apex, round at base, subentire or serrate at posterior portion, up to 20 by 5.5 cm; chartaceous, surface glabrescent; costa raised below, grooved with minute hairs on upper surface; veins several times forked, all free. Sori elongate along veins, longest on basal acroscopic veinlets, usually on both sides of veins; indusia thin, brown, margin entire to lacerate .

Distribution in Thailand

SOUTH-WESTERN: Prachuap Khiri Khan; PENINSULAR: Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Trang, Yala.

Wider Distribution

W Malesia.

Ecology

On mountain slopes near streams in dense evergreen forests at medium altitudes.

Proposed IUCN Conservation Assessment

Least Concern (LC). This species is widespread and not under any known threat.
