Description

Unclear whether erect or creeping rhizome; scales narrow, up to 13 by 1 mm, bicolored, brown with a darker margin, minutely toothed. Stipes 28.5–50 cm long, stramineous to brownish. Frond broadly oblong, about 60 by 45 cm, widest at lower 1/3, bipinnate, 10–12 pairs of pinnae; lower second or third pinnae largest, stalked up to 2.5 cm long, narrowly oblong, gradually narrowing towards acuminate apex, falcate, up to 27.5 by 12.5 cm; the basal pinnae smaller with smaller basal pinnules, upper pinnae gradually becoming smaller upwards; larger pinnules sessile or adnate at base, oblong with acuminate apex and broadly cuneate to subtruncate base, falcate, serrate at margin, up to 5 by 1.5 cm; papyraceous, green; costules hardly raised below, veins pinnate with simple veinlets. Sori linear , about 8 mm long, often diplazioid.

Ecology

On mountain slopes in dense evergreen forests at medium to high altitudes.

Proposed IUCN Conservation Assessment

Least Concern (LC). This species is reasonably widespread and not under any known threat.

Notes

We are unclear whether the rhizome is erect or creeping due to insufficient rhizome material on the available specimens.
