Description

Rhizome short, ascending; scales dense, membranous, light brown, more than 1 cm long, up to 1.2 mm broad. Stipes few at apex of rhizome, stramineous, about 8 cm long, scaly throughout; scales not very dense, lanceolate, up to 8 by 0.8 mm, gradually becoming smaller upwards. Laminae bipinnatifid, oblong-lanceolate, gradually narrowing towards both ends, 20–25 by 8–12 cm at widest middle portion; pinnae about a dozen pairs, lower pinnae slightly reduced, more or less reflexed, middle ones sessile, slightly falcate, acuminate at apex, broadly cuneate to subtruncate at base, narrowly oblong, up to 4 by 1.2 cm, deeply lobed nearly to costa; lobes oblong, slightly oblique, round to obtuse at apex and slightly toothed at apical margin, about 5 by 4 mm; papyraceous, glabrous; veins pinnate, veinlets simple or forked. Sori in a single row very close to costa; indusia large, about 2 mm diam., perfectly covering and embracing the sori , breaking down irregularly at maturity.

NORTHERN: Chiang Mai, Uttaradit.

Wider Distribution

S China and E Himalaya.

Ecology

On mountain slopes in dense evergreen forests at high altitudes.

Proposed IUCN Conservation Assessment

Least Concern (LC). This species is widespread and not under any known threat.
