DescriptionStems to 6 m tall but usually much smaller, main stems with 6–10 grooves. Sheath 4–7 mm long, the teeth 2–4 mm long (to 13 mm immediately beneath cone); teeth narrowly triangular, almost black. Cones solitary, terminal on the stems, 2.5–6 cm long, peduncles to 3 cm long. Sporangiophores hexagonal, peltate, bearing several sporangia ; spores isosporous, mixed with the elators. Distribution in ThailandNORTHERN: Nan. Distribution in LaosLuang Phrabang. Wider DistributionIndia. EcologyProposed IUCN Conservation AssessmentLeast Concern (LC). This species is widespread outside of Thailand and not under any known threat.
