Description

The species below have been recorded for Thailand (see Lindsay et al., 2009) or from Laos and Cambodia from a variety of sources.  These species are excluded from Thailand, Laos and Cambodia, either due to mistakes in the literature or because we have been unable to confirm otherwise unpublished reports.

Acrosorus streptophyllus (Baker) Copel. - The record of this species occurring in Thailand was based on a mistaken belief that a collection locality, Gunung Ina, was in southern Thailand.  It is in the neighbouring Malaysian State of Perak.

Asplenium decrescens Kunze - Unpublished record for Thailand reported to authors and included in Lindsay et al. (2009) but we have subsequently been unable to find any material and are unsure whether the identification is correct

Asplenium griffithianum Hook. - Unpublished record for Thailand reported to authors and included in Lindsay et al. (2009) but we have subsequently been unable to find any material and are unsure whether the identification is correct

Asplenium khasianum Sledge - Unpublished record for Thailand reported to authors and included in Lindsay et al. (2009) but we have subsequently been unable to find any material and are unsure whether the identification is correct

Asplenium robustum Blume - Holttum, Rev. Fl. Malaya ed. 1, 2: 442. 1955 [‘1954’], suggests that this species may be found in Peninsular Thailand. We have found no material of this species in Thailand.

Athyrium macrocarpum var. atkinsonii C.B.Clarke ex Hook. & Baker - The Lao material of Athyrium macrocarpum var. atkinsonii mentioned in Tardieu & Christensen, Fl. Indo-Chine (but incorrectly said to be from Cambodia) has been redetermined to Athyrium anisopterum by someone in the Paris herbarium but is neither Athyrium macrocarpum, Athyrium macrocarpum var. atkinsonii (now treated as Athyrium atkinsonii) nor Athyrium anisopterum . Athyrium is in great need of revision in SE Asia and we have so far been unable to identify the Lao material. We refrain from describing it as new pending more comprehesive research.

Chrysogrammitis musgraviana (Baker) Parris - The record of this species occurring in Thailand was based on a mistaken belief that a collection locality, Gunung Ina, was in southern Thailand.  It is in the neighbouring Malaysian State of Perak.

Cyathea glabra (Blume) Copel. - Unpublished record for Thailand reported to authors and included in Lindsay et al. (2009) but we have subsequently been unable to find any material and are unsure whether the identification is correct

Cyathea hymenodes Mett. - Unpublished record for Thailand reported to authors and included in Lindsay et al. (2009) but we have subsequently been unable to find any material and are unsure whether the identification is correct

Dasygrammitis brevivenosa (Alderw.) Parris - The record of this species occurring in Thailand was based on a mistaken belief that a collection locality, Gunung Ina, was in southern Thailand.  It is in the neighbouring Malaysian State of Perak.

Davallodes borneense (Blume) M.Kato & Tsutsumi - The record for S Thailand in the Flora Malesiana account is a mistake according to its author, Hans Nooteboom.

Lindsaea tenera Dryand - We have found no material and cannot confirm the record by Boonkerd & Pollawatn (2000).

Loxogramme acroscopa (Christ) C.Chr. - This species has not been found for Thailand, Laos or Cambodia and its record for Thailand (Boonkerd & Pollawatn, 2000) is possibly due to mix up with Loxogramme lankokiensis Loxogramme acroscopa is not dimorphic , L. lankokiensis is.

Lygodium longifolium (Willd.) Sw. - This species was reported by Newman et al. (2007) for Laos but we have found no material to confirm this.

Marsilea macrocarpa Prain - This species was reported by Newman et al. (2007) for Laos but we have found no material to confirm this.

Marsilea scalaripes D.M.Johnson - Unpublished record for Thailand reported to authors and included in Lindsay et al. (2009) but we have subsequently been unable to find any material and are unsure whether the identification is correct .

Microlepia marginata (Panz.) C.Chr. - The record of this species for Laos in Tardieu & C.Chr., Fl. Indo-Chine 7(2): 94. 1939 is based on an incomplete and sterile Delacour s.n. (P01379722) specimen which does not match material of Microlepia marginata but which we have been unable to identify.

Pseudophegopteris sumatrana Holttum - This species was included for Thailand by Boonkerd & Pollwatn (2000) who included Thelyptris sumatrana Alderw. in synonymy.  Pseudophegopteris sumatrana Holttum is not known from Thailand, Laos or Cambodia and Thelypteris sumatrana Alderw. has a different type and is not a synonym of this species .  Instead Thelypteris sumatrana Alderw. is a synonym of Cyclosorus subpubescens (Blume) Ching.

Tectaria yunnanensis (Baker) Ching - This species was reported by Newman et al. (2007) for Laos but we have found no material to confirm this.

Tectaria pilosa (Fée) R.C.Moran - We have found no material and cannot confirm the record.
