DescriptionRhizome very short creeping or ascending, bearing fronds closely spaced, densely covered with scales; scales gradually narrowing from base towards acuminate apex, entire, about 2.5 by 0.8 mm, pale brown, membranous. Stipes 0.4–1.5(–3.6) cm long, very densely hairy with dark red-brown to black setose hairs 2 mm in length. Fronds linear to very narrowly spathulate, gradually narrowing downwards, round or moderately acute at apex, entire and sometimes recurved at margin, 6.2–7(–16.5) cm by 3–7(–10) mm, very densely hairy throughout; hairs setose, nigrescent or dark brown, up to 3 mm long, very dense at margin, on both surfaces and in sorus as well; veins hardly visible, simple or forked, the acroscopic branches shorter; thinly leathery. Sori nearer to midvein than middle, superficial or in shallow cavities, round or elliptic . Distribution in ThailandNORTH-EASTERN: Loei. Wider DistributionSri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam, Taiwan, throughout Malesia, NE Australia, Pacific Islands. EcologyOn moist mossy rocks by streams in dense evergreen forests at about 1200 m. Proposed IUCN Conservation AssessmentData Deficient (DD). Given the large disjunct distribution of this species questions remain as to the correct identity of the Thai material. NotesThe habitat is distinct on moist mossy rocks, not on tree trunks in mossy forests.
