DescriptionRhizome short, ascending or suberect, immersed in moss on tree trunks, bearing fronds in a tuft, sparsely scaly; scales oblong-lanceolate, up to 1.2 by 0.3 mm broad, thin, pale brown, usually only at the apex of rhizome, hidden under the stipe bases. Stipes 0.4–1.2 cm, not distinct from the base of simple laminae, narrowly winged, densely hairy; hairs patent, 0.8–1.7 mm long, brown, setose. Laminae simple, commonly 4–10(–26) cm by 4–9 mm, linear, acute to moderately acute at apex, gradually narrowing downwards, entire or more or less wavy at margin, hairy throughout though sparsely with thin texture; veins simple in very narrow laminae but usually forked, the acroscopic branches shorter, basiscopic ones longer, both ending in hydathodes on the upper surface, hydathodes medial or submarginal. Sori dorsal on acroscopic branches of veins, close to midrib, round or oblong and distinct from those adjacent; sori setose or a mixture of setose and not in a sprogangium. EcologyOn mossy tree trunks in dense evergreen forests with daily fog at medium or high altitudes; locally abundant. Proposed IUCN Conservation AssessmentLeast Concern (LC). This species is widespread and not under any known threat. It is listed as Vulnerable in the Flora of Peninsular Malaysia. NotesOn the mossy tree trunks at the higher elevation of Khao Luang this species is abundant and is represented by various forms and sizes, though no taxonomic distinctions can be found between them.
