Cortia and Cortiella in the Sino-Himalaya
Introduction
A morphological study of two genera
in the tribe Apioideae (Umbelliferae), Cortia DC. and Cortiella C.Norman
has been carried out. This study has been used to highlight the problems
of generic limit delimitation in the family Umbelliferae. A morphometric
analysis was carried out and a protocol established for future studies
in fruit anatomy with the development of suitable techniques. The study
has enabled the generic limits between Cortia and Cortiella to be more
clearly defined. A new species Cortiella lamondiana is described (Edinburgh
Journal of Botany 53: 130 (1998).
