Nitzschia sect. Nitzschia

In this dissertation, as a starting point, I implemented all the changes to Grunow's subgeneric classification that had been implemented by Friedrich Hustedt. Thus, the sect. Nitzschia included almost all sigmoid Nitzschia species, including the former sections Sigmata, Sigmoideae and Obtusae. My conclusion was that Hustedt's changes were incorrect and that the sigmoid Nitzschia species do not form a natural group.
