Specimen in Geitler collection, on slide 22 in box 2, (Geitler XXIV). The nucleus shown is in zygotene of meiotic prophase, with a dense synizetic knot. The stack of optical sections shows that the single visible nucleolus (appearing as a dense black sphere) lies at the periphery of the nucleus, at the one end of the stack, consistent with a telomeric position of the nucleolar organizer.
