Holotype of Nitzschia parkii

type specimen of Nitzschia parkii

Specimen on slide E5648 (Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh): Loch Goil “Large box”, coll. March 1989. Valve at England Finder M37, centre circle, near the border with sector 2. We provide a low magnification context photograph to make it easier to locate the holotype (red arrow) and an image stack taken with differential interference contrast optics. The holotype is orientated with the interior closer to the observer, in contrast to the types of Nitzschia dicrogramma and N. brachygramma.
